What have I been up to? Well last night I wrapped some white fabric (I think it is a poly cotton but I am not so sure) around three rather rusty garden tools my father had delivered, to see if I can do this rust dyeing I've been hearing so much about. I am guessing that the fabric will not take the rust and the weather is not hot or sunny enough to brew the rust well. Always in too much of a rush - I should have looked out some cotton or silk and waited for better weather! Still I can hope!

I received two lovely postcards today. The first if from my friend Jan and is absolutely exquisite - The photo has too much of a reflection and makes the piece look almost orange but it is a beautiful golden/purple/rust shimmer - she has carved the word Thank You across the middle with the soldering iron - it's not too obvious at first glance but the close up shows the first letters. What a brilliant idea. Thanks Jan - see you need to keep stitching!!
The second card is from Joann and is a lovely delicate patchwork of bluebells for the FAI swap - also beautiful. Sorry noticed pic is on its side. Thanks Joann
This is a piece of cotton I have painted and stamped as the background of what I hope will turn out to be my first 8 x 11 inch quilt? The last pic shows my machine stitching out the Fleur de Lys that took me ages to digitise. These will be cut out of the black felt and added to this background. As yet I have not got the bit that will happen in between worked out yet!!!.

I love the box of stuff you discovered while cleaning. About 1/3 of stuff in my supply cabinets are items of a similar nature. So many fun things to work with when the muse strikes.
