WHY WHY WHY

Why is it so often ideas in my head just don't work ????? I have had a very frustrating day. Simple idea - for the next bodice - make a chiffon sandwich using red chiffon, snippets of thread, a bit of gold foil, iron it onto a backing and stitch? Sounds simple.. I measured out more fabric than I need for a bodice - lay my chiffon down, bondaweb and foil - of course too much foil adhered (first doh!) snippets next and other layer of chiffon - looks too red and 'flat' now. OK next step - try nappy liners with markel (an old favourite of VCH) - so I duly prepared some liners - OK they had already been painted with silk paint but let's try anyway. The melting of them onto my still bondaweb sticky background had this result - none on the fabric but lots on the underside of my parchment paper (second doh!!). Nappy liners don't work then - how about some more bondaweb - this time painted with acrylics - another VCH favourite. Thankfully it was windy and sunny out side so that dried nicely and quickly. Ironed on to my fabric and (third doh!!) now my fabric is thickly gold!!!!!! ARRRRRRGGHHHHH. The most annoying and fourth doh is that my fabric has shrunk and I dare not zap it with the heat gun!!!!! What am I doing - WHY ME, WHY NOW. HELP SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!! AAAARRRRRGH Wish I had stayed in bed!

I have some of that days, they will pass :-) Pity of the work you've done though!

Could try stencilling paint over this (red + other colours?). Or/and cut it up and apply to more red fabric? Or/and lots of red stitching?

I'm with Sue - cut it up and combine with something else and reconstruct. Have you enough for panels and something else for the back?

I'm sure once you cut shapes out and then stitch on them you'll have beautiful fabrics. And I'm sure you can do it.

I often find that bondaweb can be too heavy for foiling so prefer to use bonding powders / supermend instead, the process takes longer but is more controlable and the finished fabric not thickened or heavy - hope this helps. We all have days like this!
