Another Textured Postcard

Do you remember this postcard from Day 17 of my January challenge?? Well yesterday I found a piece of the background fabric in my stash. To make it different I covered it with a piece of dark blue twinkle nylon, machine stitched it with metallic threads and then attacked it with my heat gun. The result was 'interesting' but lacking something. Considering I was getting withdrawal symptoms from not using Sorbello stitch guess what I had to do???? Yep I had to hand stitch Sorbello stitch in heaps using several gold threads topped off with a fine metallic thread.
The heaps are like little mountains, they really stand off the postcard. The piece was a bit smaller than any of the others so I had to mount it on a piece of black felt and it really makes the piece sing.

Have any of you purchased The Monthly Muse from
Ten Two Studios? I have been looking at their website and decided to purchase the complete set of 2006 back issues on CD. I have made one piece of altered art - it is an altered book that sort of covers my life/special people and is very private to me. I am hoping that the Monthly Muse will inspire me to really have a go at mixed media collage, altered work and combining both with more textiles!! That's a tough order! Still I have so many ideas to try.

Love this postcard - I agree, the black does make it zing.

You sure do love sorbello stitch-I did a workshop with Jan Beaney a few years ago when she was in Oz. and up till then I had never heard of it.
I must admit it does give great texture and finish to everything that you do.
