Another Postcard

I have received another birthday postcard - Thanks Lynda (aka Purplemissus) this is an amazing piece - the colours are just fantastic - the photo does not do it justice it is so much more of a rusty colour - you can tell there is a problem with the photo as I lay the postcard on a WHITE background and that has turned out a pale blue!!!!!
I heard from the college (GLOSCAT) who I was doing the HNC through about picking up and continuing - they have said they are going to stop the distance learning course at Christmas so if I think I can squeeze 18months of intensive study/work etc in before Christmas I can continue!!!!!! Sadly I have decided that is just impossible. So once again I am stuck without inspiration and a push!! I have no idea what to do next.
I have signed up for a 'blue' postcard swap but that is just not enough! I also thought during the night (as you do) that I have never really made an artistic quilt - I once made some baby cot quilts for my children but that is not the idea. The problem is that I can't really see the point of making a 'quilt' to hang on the wall - why not save on the wadding and backing and just make a wall hanging?? Am I missing something here?? I did think of buying the book Art Quilt Workshop by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston but then I don't know if this is the right direction either. Oh help!!!!!!

I agree with you it was expecting a bit much to cram 18 months work in to 6 months. I notice you did the Open College of Arts Textile course, they do a Textiles 2 and Textiles advanced if that is of interest to you http://www.oca-uk.com/courses/textiles/

Yes, but the dimension added with the batting/wadding!! I guess it depends of the techniques you use! Have seen some incredible pieces with and without.
