Now What?

It's been an age since I wrote - Tuesday in fact. I have nothing to show - I am going through another one of those patches - maybe it's a mild depression but I'd rather think of it as a deep low spell.

What have I done? I have done a tiny bit I made a couple of quilted backgrounds A4 in size, using a couple of old pieces of fabric and transfer painted designs, but they are rubbish and have been thrown in the Un-Finished Objects (UFO) bin. They are just background pieces with no applique or surface decoration and I hate them. I have been reading lots of blogs and found that lots of people seem to set themselves challenges, making some sort of art every day for a period of time - I know I did this at the beginning of the year when I committed to make a postcard a day for a month. That seemed easy at the time but now it is getting harder and harder to come up with ideas.

I have been searching the Internet for exhibitions to visit within easy reach of here but I have no idea where to look. The embroiderers guild list some but there never seems to be anything close to me. I need physical inspiration - I need to see some textile art up close and I don't want to wait until October when I go to the Knitting and Stitching show.

Now I am going to stop before I make you all feel low too!!

Hi!
We'll look for inspiration together in October. I'm so very excited to be able to go to the show in London this year. My son dances with Birmingham Royal Ballet. The company will be performing at Sadler Well's Theater at the same time. It's going to be great. We should meet up!

I think it's this lousy summer we're having. Cloud and rain don't help you feel bouyant and creative, do they? I too know how you feel. I think it's part of being creative, every now and then we get saturated. Take a step back and/or try something completely different, a different technique maybe. Whatever you do look after yourself.

Hmmm! I know what you mean it happens to us all I think. My solution was to visit the botanic gardens and a couple of exhibitions in Edinburgh - Andy Warhol and Picasso. The gardens have been my best source to get creative again.
