Studios

I have recently been reading the Studio magazine from Quilting Arts and really wish I could invest in a person to help sort out my mess as many of the entrants in the book seem to have. I'd also like to be able to spend money on sorting out the shelving. However I thought I'd share the latest pic of my studio/workroom - these combined photos show just one corner obviously I would need to clear that corner to be able to stand in it to take a photo of the diagonally opposite corner where I do have a small amount of surface to work on!! That will have to wait for another day!!!!! Strangely I can find most things!!

Just spent all morning trying to make some sense of my workroom as when it gets too cluttered I just dry up creatively.

If you can find what you're looking for, and have a sense of what you in fact have; have enough space to work in (for your needs) then the actual clutter level doesn't matter! I can't let my studio get like that as I simply don't know what I have, nor can I find what I know I have... if I could work in such a "mess", I gaurentee I wouldn't be using my studio time to clean up!! :-)

I have three areas in my house and outside in my shed/studio which together look like your studio. I could do with an organiser too! My sewing area will get cleared out next week as I have to be able to put the bed up for my mum to stay.

This tickles me! I have that same studio space! I had to do major moving today just to get a bolt of fabric out of the closet.

I keep telling myself it's the fault of the creative mind.

Have you seen the book "Creating your Perfect Quilting Space" by Lois Hallock? It is published by Martingale, here in the US, and while I did have her help me with my studio, most of the information is in her book, although when she helped me, she did the floor plan, and gave me the resources to keep my cost lower (she will do everything if you want her to). IKEA was where most of my furniture came from, and they have a free downloadable program to do furniture layouts using their furniture, and you could use similar size to what you have available.

That said, they can't do everything for you, and I have too much stuff to fit in my room, so since I was unwilling to part with too much stuff, most is organized, but I am still working my way through others that I am not willing to toss.
