New Scrap Book complete and the birth of a visitor

One item on my to do list is done - another Scrap Book Large Volume. Here is the front cover. And it opened out - no rusty coloured pages like Volume 1. a couple of pics of the two books together. The left shows the back of the new volume (although they can be 'read' either way up).OK the birth of a visitor sounds really odd but let me explain.... The other day whilst clearing some nettles from my garden I found one of these.... Although not this actual one - it looked interesting and fell off the nettle so I put it in the studio where I have other natural stuff - like poppy seed heads. Anyway this morning I heard a sort of scraping noise and could not locate that - shortly followed by the sound of flapping and look what I found.....I could not locate the empty pupae hence the photo from the Internet.Isn't it beautiful. It's a Small Tortoiseshell - few in numbers in UK apparently. Sorry the close up is a little fuzzy. After about an hour or so to make sure it was well, I gently caught it and popped it outside on the lavender. NICE !!

The books are gorgeous! How exciting to see a butterfly come out of it's cocoon.
