OOps - lesson learnt

My hands hurt with felt making (the proper way) so I thought I'd be quick. In the past I have put pre felts into the washing machine and it felted that way- with great success but this time things did not go quite to plan. Do you remember I showed you this photo - the flowers for Mustard seed - on the right is the pile of fleece measuring roughly 10" in diameter and on the left the hand felted final flower measuring 7". Well I prepared several others and as I say my hands were hurting so I threw them into the washing machine for less than10 minutes and look.......... on the left is my 7" perfect size and on the right look what happened - they shrank to 4"!! The ones at the back are stacked in size - a couple are not too bad. I think I will now have to make more. Of course, the one I found still in the washing machine is this one.... think something went very very wrong there!! :-)

That will teach me!!

Chalk it up to experience, you tried a different technique, it didn't work, you gained experience and we now all know if we wish to make felt flowers the best way is to hand felt them. So thanks for being a pioneer, you've learned a lesson we can all benefit from!
Best wishes
