What to do with some time to spare.....

I had a few hours to spare today so what did I do?? I went for a wander around Bath Fashion Museum's latest exhibition - Dressing The Stars at the Assembly Room. For more details click here. This is an amazing exhibition you can really get close to all the costumes with two exceptions...
only two costumes are in glass cases - one is the white suit from Gladiator and the other is Captain Jack's costume from Pirates of the Caribbean. I guess Captain Jack is protected as the crowd of school girls demonstrated - all wanting their picture taken standing beside him - this is the closest they will ever get to Johnny Depp!! The costumes were all stunning and I was particularly taken with the stitching on this - the coronation robe worn by Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I.Look at this detail - it is such a modern technique to provide such a historic look.Or how close you could get to the costumes - this is the sleeve from the wedding gown worn by Kate Winslet as Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility...Numbered ListIt's a shame they don't have a good book to cover the exhibition - there is a leaflet which details the costumes. 180 photos later I finished. I am so glad I have a season ticket because I am sure going to go back again and again!! The exhibition runs from now until 29 August. If you do get chance to go don't forget the rest of the museum exhibitions - the wedding dresses are still there! It is a lovely museum.
