Day 26 - A TEXTURE SWAP ?

I really want to find a course or workshop to attend - I need hands on one to one/group contact and inspiration. Any ideas?? I think I'd even consider going on an overseas holiday to attend a course!

I spend this morning in Salisbury - where I visited a small but lovely exhibition at the Salisbury Art Centre, which is housed in a disused church. There are some lovely arches left in the walls, like this one. Anyway the exhibition was called Colour Full and showed the work of Textile Forum South West. The pieces on display were definitely colourful and inspirational. I did ask permission to take some photos - and was really thankful that I was granted that permission. Below are a couple of these photos - I am aware of copyright rules and am showing you these pictures as you may not be able to attend the exhibition yourselves but can appreciate the beautiful work - I keep the photos for inspiration - like flicking through a book or show catalogue (which they did not have).

This piece was particularly wonderful - it's large with such depth from a distance but once you get close you realise that it is completely stitched by hand !! The textile piece is the centre of an enamelled piece. The work is called Enamelled Garden Instillation. Just fabulous!!!! It was created by Janet Haigh.
Getting back to me - sorry that sounds selfish - but I have to show you my daily postcard - I'd really enjoying this challenge now! I am in 'texture' mode!
Last nights pieces (see not just piece - I'm multiplying !!) started life as a piece of cream calico. I decided to lay various threads over the surface and stitch them down with zig zag and cross stitch. Then I painted the surface with black, turquoise, purple and gold acrylic and metallic paints.
Over stitching with machine cross stitch. The base was then cut into three pieces and
on piece 1 - I hand stitched my favourite Sorbello
On piece 2 - I hand stitched cross stitch and on piece 3 I did both Sorbello and cross stitch.

As I have three postcards how about another swap??? If you would like to do a swap for one of my texture postcards please post a comment and indicate which one you would like (1-sorbello, 2-cross or 3- the one with both). The first to respond for each postcard 'wins'. The request from me is I'd very much like a really, really textured piece in return - hope you think this is fair and I look forward to seeing who responds and joins in!!
