Job Update

As you may remember I went to two interviews on Friday and was told I would hear if I had made it through to second interview stage by close of work yesterday. Well the first interview was for a Quality Administrator for another law firm (I was at a law firm when made redundant), on a salary fairly close to my leaving one. Today I got a message from the agency to say that I was their chosen candidate and they had planned to by pass the 2nd interview stage BUT the job has been withdrawn as the current economic climate has hit them. So the job is on hold indefinitely. RUBBISH !! They will keep in touch and let me know if and when it gets the green light again.

The second interview was as an Admin Assistant for the Education and Children dept of the local council. A position I can do standing on my head and using one finger!! - Well below my abilities and on a salary just over 1/2 of my previous salary. Well I got a call direct from them saying that they too are bypassing 2nd interview and would like to offer me the job. I accepted ! I start as soon as I get through a CRB check.

Some of my friends say I was daft and should hold out for a better position with more money but as many know it is better to have a job and a regular income even if it is very small, than nothing at all. Things are going to be very tight for me - I think I will only just be able to keep on top of the bills - don't think there will be anything left for food but hey I need to go on a diet!!!!

There is nothing to stop me looking for a better job whilst employed.

The job does sound interesting as I have always been interested in Education and who knows once in post there may be the chance to progress etc.

Oh my lovely, I am sooooooo pleased for you, I know it is pants taking a pay cut and all, but when they see what you can do they will be finding something else for you I am sure. The council/ local gov is like that. It is always easier to get work when you are in work. I am really over the moon you have had some luck even if it is only in small amount.

so pleased you got a job, I know a paycut is disappointing but as Carol says "It is always easier to get work when you are in work." DH has always found that to be the case.

well done on getting something. I agree, you can keep looking. I've heard it's always easier to get a new job if you're still employed.
