Tag Free Zone

I agree with Doreen (see here) re Awards and Meme's. So have decided to make this blog a Tag Free Zone and am grateful that I am not the first to do this. I like to think that people look at my blog because they like it - they don't need to give me an award (not that I get many) and those that I do get I am grateful for.

I looked up the definition of MEME - A meme consists of any idea or behavior that can pass from one person to another by learning or imitation. Examples include thoughts, ideas, theories, gestures, practices, fashions, habits, songs, and dances. Memes propagate themselves and can move through the cultural sociosphere in a manner similar to the contagious behavior of a virus.

There are often various RULES applied to many of these 'Awards/Meme's which to me are like chain letters - I always broke the chain at school before things got out of hand.

Surely the 'Award' would tend to lose its true meaning after a while - a bit like pyramid selling ! 1 award given to 5 people, those 5 to another 5 each makes 25. Those 25 to another 5 each makes 125 etc etc (If my maths is correct :-)).

We run out of favourite blogs to tag - and then people get the award several times.

The same award would eventually be given to everyone in blog land!

Can ALL blogs be ' The Best Ever' ?

I am inclined to agree but I think its nice sometimes to draw attention to other blogs, and I quite enjoyed the 7 random things one. It was fun thinking of them.
So I am undecided!

I think in the four and a bit years of blogging i've done, that i've probably posted every random or wierd thing there is to know about me! And the sidebar gets awfully long with awards and badges, so i thank politely the sender, and fuhgeddabout it :}

I met Karin today and she sends you a hello! We had a lovely afternoon!

must admit that I am coming round to this way of thinking but for new bloggers this can be a great encouragement. I've only ever done one meme mainly as I can never think of any relevent answers :-)

i have mixed feelings about these things - i don't usually do memes but the small insecure part of me really likes getting blog awards (not that i've had many!) from what i've seen blog awards don't seem to have the dire consequences foretold by chain letters if they're not passed on but they do come with a feeling of obligation.
hmmm need some more thinking about this

cheers
