Question

Need a bit of advise... I love using oil pastels in my current journal but you can't write over the stuff with normal pens - does anyone have any suggestions. I don't want to paint as I use the pastels like crayons to write.

I have used them and have had the same problem. About the only think I could think of would be to try a type of spray sealer over it that you can still write on top of. And Welcome Back!!!

Have you tried Sakura pens? I have written over gesso and acrylic paints with them, but of course the oil in your pastels is the problem. I don't think anyone would really want the stuff I am getting rid of, though I am taking three bags down to the local school to see if they can use it. Wouldn't it be great if we were all near enough to organise a massive swap session?!

I don't know about pens but what about putting some overlay paper on top of the pastel pages? I mean as another leaf of course, not glued down.

Jackie's idea of a transparency would be good, but I was going to suggest tippex pen? I think it would stick? The other thing is like liner pens, you know that come out like icing, if you get what i mean? The rouble is the oil repels thing sticking? Wat about sgraffito - scratching in? Sorry all I can think of?

Hi there - bit late to comment , but I've used a light coat of spray sealer and had great results. The only thing - I wouldn't want to have to do that in a journal consistently , as you need to wait for it to dry completely and there is a Very Unpleasant Odor until it does , lol. It
