Creativity update - Harriet

On Bank Holiday Monday - last week I planted some beans - you may have read the blog and seen the pics - by this Monday the beans looked like this and today they are like thisToday's creativity - Christine thanks for asking about Harriet - I have answered here... the recipe came from a magazine I bought 22 years ago. It had an advert for the Cadbury chocolate cook book (which I did not actually buy) but the advert had this lovely recipe..... After the first making I made a couple of alterations to the recipe, I now double the quantity of butter icing - I cut the cake into six pieces and sandwich them together with some of the icing - otherwise there are BIG chunks of cake, it is much nicer with layers. I also use way more than double the number of chocolate buttons and I could never be fussed cutting the buttons in half as the recipe suggests so we just have loads of whole buttons - they work well in lots of butter cream :-), oh and now that my baby is getting old Harriet has a few 'grey' spines!! Here is Harriet number 22 for my baby who will be 23... (Click here to see the Harriet for her 20th birthday - the 'grey' came in when she, my daughter, hit 21. It's funny to see that I have days of gardening and cake making on a regular, annual basis!!!) If you read this - Emma - HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Saturday.

I made a Hedgehog cake just like that one when my son was little. He is now almost 36 and his birthday is in July. For once it was a very hot day and the all the chocolate buttons melted - poor hedgehog it did look in a weary sorry state. It tasted good though and none of the children seemed bothered by it's appearance!!

Hi Anna,

Sorry I have been away for so long. But since I moved in January, I have been so busy unpacking boxes. Wow, you have been a Busy Bee! Don't know where to start! :)
The rusted fabric turned out a great piece, the Zentangle is gorgeous. Love how you made a book cover out of it. Did you sew it on a reguloar sewing machine or a long arm? Then the Beans, wow you really have a Green Thumb. They are doing great. What type of beans are they? I will be back soon. Please visit my blog when you get a chance a leave a comment. I have missed you.
Hugs
