Two Faries

I know it's been a while since I wrote but now that the house is quiet, empty and clean I can really get back to art work. OK - I do miss them, I have had to put the heating on as I don't have my little wriggly hot water bottle on my lap any more! - OK that is is enough missing them !:-) Art news..... Yesterday I spent the day with the two Jane's again. I was busily hand stitching more cord onto Oberon's doublet - considering I have already made over 80 metres of cord and have still a long way to go! I spent a fantastic weekend with the MEG group at Urchfont a couple of weekends ago - worked on Oberon's doublet - have started the breaches too, but the best bit was having a big table to make felt for Mustardseed.

Making the mustardseed flowers was tough work on my hands - they started at 10 inches in diameter and ended up at just 7 inches... here are numbers 1 and 2.....

I had planned to make the whole frock background in one piece - measured the muslin to the size I wanted plus shrinkage, but when I started to lay out the fibres like this before felting I thought it would shrink more so thought this would be just enough to be the bodice section, hence much less of brown - the 'skirt' part is brown - I decided to make a separate skirt. However when I had felted it as much as I wanted for texture it did turn out to be longer but not long enough.... (here with flower 1)So there is need to slightly re-think the 'skirt' part. I will start work on that today.

Hi Anna - haven't been over to see what you've been up to for ages! Just love Mustartseed so far - gorgeous colour blends and the way the felt looks so soft and clingy. Brillaint!
