A Little Bit of Art Work

As the weather was rubbish today (until now 6.20pm) I spent the day thinking about the mandala I drew earlier and my iron work samples for an old C&G project. Today I cut out a rectangle of the design and played with it in the Pfaff software before stitching it out onto a piece of Tyvek. I will decide what to do with that on another day!!

Then I stitched it out twice on to a chiffon sandwich. Two layers of chiffon with metallic thread snippets as the filling. This became two postcards. I outlined the design with free machine embroidery in metallic gold/black mix thread and attacked it with a cross shaped tip to my soldering iron.

Here's a close up so you can see where the burn holes are adding texture.

The next version was on a piece of previously hand stitched paper. I had glued some torn pieces of newspaper onto the background and stitched with herringbone stitch some time ago not knowing what I would do with it. The over stitching worked well and there is another postcard!!
