I don't often make samples but I have done this time. I have stitched it both by machine and by hand - there would be more, different, colour hand stitching and beads added later.
Now I need your advise - should I burn back the organza to show the velvet like this one 
or should I leave it like this one?

I actually prefer the look of the second one. I don't know why exactly - it maybe has a richer more textured look about it. Instead of burning back cold maybe cut back a little in just one or two places that way you can control how much of the velvet can be seen. I hope that helps!
I quite like the one that is burned back.
I like the first one too but prefer the section with the smaller burn spots.
I prefer the second one, burned back for more contrast.
I like the first one too but I am with Vicky the smaller circled part is nicer in my opinion.
