The Art of Depression

Just a quick note today with an observation.. .. Why is it when we blog prolifically - every day, even if it is only about random stuff like the garden and not about textile art at all do we get lots of comments but when we have not blogged for a month - noone writes to ask if we are ok?  Have we fallen off the planet, moved overseas, hidden ourselves under a rock?  Strange isn't it?

Anyway I have not fallen off the planet or moved overseas but I have been hiding under a rock :-) I have not wanted to communicate with the outside world for a while (other than having to attend my day job).  I hve done some stitching - the main pieces of the Klimt jacket are now done and about to be joined together. I have also been making several sketchbook covers ready to sell (some are already in my Etsy shop and infact I have already sold some).

At the moment I can't post up photos because I have been to West Dean college on a fantastic course led by Cas Holmes.  We were working in our sketchbooks - that for me is a tough process - I don't really play in my sketchbooks so I was learning to let go and enjoy the process.

I will upload various photos when I get the hundreds sorted into some sort of order.

I can't really say anything because I haven't been in touch along with everyone else but I suppose it is because we tend to read so many blogs it can be difficult to keep track of who is blogging regularly or not. But anyway... just wanted to say, thinking of you and hope you are feeling better soon.

Lucky you to have done a course with Cas Holmes, I look forward to seeing some pics from it :-)

Hi Anna,

I presumed you were away - lots of northern hemisphere bloggers have been in the last while.

Hope all is well and the course was fun. The Klimpt jacket is looking good too!

Hello Anna - tricky question that you ask. People do blog and in doing so are public ( me included) but when they don't I just assume that they are going through a more private phase.

Anyway, hope your feeling more 'outward' and less introspective now. I know that the black dog demon can be a beast!

Anna, I guess this is a question we should all ask ourselves. I too have been struggling to be visible and connected.

I have no answers but wish you comfort and strength.
